Exploring Isometric Worlds

Isometric Illustration & Motion Graphics

About My Creation

For this project, I developed the new skill of isometric illustration and through a series of mini designs including vectors and motion graphics, I have explored different avenues of creating isometric worlds.

Learning How To Create Isometric Illustrations

I first discovered this illustrative style through a linked in learning tutorial and learnt how to create these designs from this. There is a rather specific formula for creating isometric illustrations, allowing the placement of each object anywhere on the page to be in the correct perspective.

Tea Time

I began to play with gradients to make circular shapes and extended my exploration of what could be put in perspective, here including typography and shadows. I then went on to create a short isometric animation

A Journey To The City That Never Sleeps

I wanted to explore a night based illustration, looking at the use of darker colours and interesting gradients. I was also inspired by tarot cards to explore a new style and composition.

Storyboarding Animations

I wanted to continue my exploration of animating these illustrations, to bring them to life and develop my ability to storytell.

I envisioned a trilogy of short animations of a small flower character, learning to bloom.

The Making Of

I learnt a few new techniques on Adobe After Effects to help me with creating these animations.

The Outcomes

The final outcome features my short animation trilogy, about a flower as a metaphor for getting out of your own comfort zone, exploring new paths and keeping your mind open to possibilities.
