Feed Your Soul

A Mental Health Zine

About My Creation

Feed your soul is a passion project I worked on in my free time. It includes the creation of a mini zine along with envelopes and stickers for packaging. The aim of the zine is to remind people to take breaks and reset in order to allow themselves to keep being creative.

I was inspired by a podcast I had listened to by Garret Watts and Andrew Siwicki.

Initial Ideas

Character sketches, I knew I wanted to create a fun and friendly character, it creates a consistency and becomes recognisable.

A character designed in this way also becomes a kind of mascot for positivity and feels approachable.

Colours, Type & Pattern

For the colour palette I used very bright colours as this zine is all about cheering people up so the colours were an important part in reflecting this.

Using the font Avenir Black as my typeface as I always find this to be a legible font, I decided to manipulate it to make it a little wobbly. My intention with this is that it gives the type some character and introduces the idea that its okay to be a bit wobbly and worried but this zine is here to help you out.
